Em\u00edlio Vilar<br \/>\n\u2014<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/ohs7rg7l3jmyep7\/dissertac%C3%A3o%20final_beatriz%20marques.pdf?dl=0\" target=\"_blank\">DISSERTA\u00c7\u00c3O[PT]<\/a><br \/>\n\u2014<br \/>\n<b>RESUMO<\/b><br \/>\nA presente disserta\u00e7\u00e3o assume um car\u00e1cter te\u00f3rico-pr\u00e1tico e situa-se no dom\u00ednio da visualiza\u00e7\u00e3o de informa\u00e7\u00e3o, abordando em particular a tem\u00e1tica das timelines interativas. O campo de aplica\u00e7\u00e3o escolhido foi o do mapeamento de narrativas hist\u00f3rico\/culturais.<br \/>\nComo objetivo central procura-se compreender de que forma o dispositivo \u201ctimeline\u201d pode comunicar de modo eficiente uma narrativa hist\u00f3rica, relacionando-a simultaneamente com o seu contexto envolvente e potenciando a compreens\u00e3o do tema apresentado. Para este efeito, concebeu-se, desenvolveu-se e desenhou-se uma timeline interativa sobre o design em Portugal de 1900 at\u00e9 \u00e0 atualidade.<br \/>\nA pesquisa adotou uma metodologia descritiva e inicia-se com uma contextualiza\u00e7\u00e3o te\u00f3rica da timeline onde se apresentam os conceitos-base, os modelos e taxonomias que decorrem dos estudos efetuados na sua \u00e1rea de influ\u00eancia. A partir do enquadramento te\u00f3rico foi proposto um modelo para a an\u00e1lise de tr\u00eas casos de estudo &#8211; Idea Line (2002), The Path of Protest (2011) e British History Timeline (2006). Para a sele\u00e7\u00e3o destes exemplos concorreu o facto de se tratarem de timelines interativas baseadas em narrativas hist\u00f3ricas e de constitu\u00edrem refer\u00eancias nos seus dom\u00ednios relativamente aos temas apresentados e prop\u00f3sitos veiculados. Da sua an\u00e1lise cr\u00edtica e comparada resultou um conjunto de reflex\u00f5es, conclus\u00f5es e princ\u00edpios posteriormente considerados e aplicados na prossecu\u00e7\u00e3o da componente pr\u00e1tica.<br \/>\nOs resultados do estudo e pesquisa realizada apontam para o papel determinante da configura\u00e7\u00e3o visual do eixo temporal e das tarefas de utilizador na interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o de informa\u00e7\u00e3o desta natureza. O presum\u00edvel desenvolvimento, implementa\u00e7\u00e3o e divulga\u00e7\u00e3o da Timeline do Design em Portugal contribui para o estudo das timelines enquanto dispositivos de informa\u00e7\u00e3o com caracter\u00edsticas e potencialidades pr\u00f3prias, promove a sua investiga\u00e7\u00e3o e sistematiza\u00e7\u00e3o te\u00f3rica e, tamb\u00e9m, numa perspetiva pragm\u00e1tica associada ao campo de aplica\u00e7\u00e3o escolhido, ajuda a criar as bases para a recolha, organiza\u00e7\u00e3o e apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o de informa\u00e7\u00e3o relevante relativa ao design em Portugal, dotando a comunidade acad\u00e9mica e profissional de uma ferramenta eficaz de consulta e aprendizagem.<br \/>\n<b>Palavras-chave: <\/b><i>Design de Comunica\u00e7\u00e3o; Visualiza\u00e7\u00e3o de Informa\u00e7\u00e3o; Timeline Interativa; Design em Portugal.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>ABSTRACT<\/b><br \/>\nThis thesis takes a theoretical and practical approach to data visualization, focusing in particular on interactive timelines as a means to mapping historical\/cultural narratives. It seeks to understand how timelines can efficiently communicate a historical narrative, enhancing the topic\u2019s comprehension whilst relating it to the surrounding context. For this purpose, an interactive timeline on Design in Portugal from 1900 to present, was conceptualized and developed.<br \/>\nThe research adopted a descriptive methodology. The theoretical framework depicts the basic concepts, models and taxonomies associated to timelines, which derive from the main studies available on the matter. From this, a model for the analysis of three case studies \u2013 Idea Line (2002), The Path of Protest (2011) and British History Timeline (2006) \u2013 was proposed. The selection criteria shows that they refer to interactive timelines depicting a historical narrative, in addition to being as heterogeneous as possible with respect to the themes presented and conveyed purposes. The comparative analysis produced a set of thoughts, conclusions and principles, subsequently considered and applied in the development of the timeline presented.<br \/>\nThe results of this study point to the decisive role of visual setup of the time axis and user tasks in the interpretation of information. The effective implementation of the timeline Design in Portugal: from 1900 to present, contributes to the study of timelines as information devices with its own characteristics and capabilities, promotes associated research and theoretical systematization and, on a pragmatic note, helps creating the basis for the gathering, compilation and presentation of relevant information on design in Portugal, providing the academic and professional community with an effective tool for referring and learning.<br \/>\n<b>Keywords: <\/b><i>Communication Design; Data Visualization; Interactive Timeline; Design in Portugal.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ana Beatriz Antunes Marques \/ Orient.
