RESUMO
A presente dissertação reflecte sobre o potencial do design como contributo para a coesão e o desenvolvimento sociais. Tratamos especificamente a necessidade de comunicar o dispositivo nacional Rede Social. A divulgação deste dispositivo carece de reconfiguração no que se refere à pertinência dos conteúdos e à respectiva adequação ao utilizador. A Rede Social necessita ainda de envolver a comunidade na sua acção para garantir a sustentabilidade do apoio que viabiliza.
Na sequência do reconhecimento das necessidades supramencionadas, desenvolvemos um projecto prático em parceria com as instituições de acção social da freguesia de Fernão Ferro, no concelho do Seixal. A nossa proposta traduziu-se na consolidação de uma rede local de dinamização sociocultural, que se constitui enquanto zona propiciadora de contacto e de colaboração entre as instituições locais e a comunidade.
A metodologia de trabalho seguida foi colaborativa e o processo implicou actores multidisciplinares. O designer contribuiu enquanto mediador das diferentes partes envolvidas, bem como na construção das interfaces que possibilitam o encontro entre a Rede Social e a comunidade.

ABSTRACT
This dissertation reflects on the potential of design as a contribution to social development and cohesion. We specifically treat the need to communicate the national Social Network program. The disclosure of this program lacks reconfiguration regarding the relevance of the content and their adequacy to the user. The Social Network also needs to involve the community in its action to ensure the sustainability of the support that enables its implementation.
Following the recognition of the above requirements, we developed a practical project in partnership with the social work institutions in the parish council of Fernão Ferro, in Seixal. Our proposal resulted in the consolidation of a network of local socio-cultural dynamics, which constitutes itself as a propitiating zone of contact and collaboration between the local institutions and the community.
The followed working methodology was collaborative and the process brought together multidisciplinary actors. The designer acted as a mediator between different actors and professionals, as well in the construction of the interfaces that allow the interaction between the Social Network and the community.
